Periodontal Disease
Best Periodontist in India
Periodontal disease (also called gum disease) is more common than you may think. If you’ve been diagnosed, you can rest easy knowing that Thaper Dental Clinic's team has extensive experience with periodontal disease and has successfully treated many patients.
Periodontal treatments depend on the type & severity of the gum disease. If the disease is in early stage (gingivitis), and no damage has been done to the supporting structures (Bone & Periodontal Ligament) under the teeth, one may simply need a professional dental cleaning.
Even after this treatment, some patients can develop severe periodontal disease. In such cases, the first step of treatment usually involves a specialized deep cleaning also called “Scaling and Root Planing.” In this treatment, our dentist will removes plaque and tartar down to the bottom of each periodontal pocket. This treatment is done over several visits, depending on your condition. Time is required after every sitting for healing of gums to their natural condition.
The root surfaces of the teeth are then smoothed (or “planed”) to allow the gum tissue to heal and reattach to the teeth. Our dentist might recommend a mouth wash or a medication that will be placed directly into the periodontal pocket after scaling and root planing.
Another dental visit will have to be scheduled within a few weeks after your last scaling and root planing treatment. At this visit, Our Dentist will evaluate your gums to see how they have healed. We will measure the periodontal pockets again. If the periodontal pockets have gotten deeper and the supporting bone is lost, more treatment may be needed.
In certain cases, with extreme bone loss, We might have to consider major Dental Surgeries such as:
1. Bone Grafting
2. Gum Surgery
